Britebox Light Therapy Boxes - About Us

Mary Read Ltd is a research led, product development company. Our research is guided by the most relevant research which provides significant clinical data and long term treatment studies showing no risks to health. Our expertise allows us to develop effective home use products at extremely competitive prices.

The results of light therapy on SAD, and LED wavelengths on acne and skin rejuvenation have been amazing. The benefit of our treatments is that they do not result in any thermal damage, side effects or time off work and they are cost effective when compared to treatment at a specialist skin care clinic.

Mary Read Ltd has been researching the health aspects of light for the last ten years and we are astounded at the progress. Dedicated researchers have been spurred on in their investigations after bright light was first shown to reduce melatonin production and reverse the effects of Seasonal Affective Disorder. Further excitement ensued when NASA discovered the healing properties of light within the red spectrum.

Natural healers, scientists and pharmacologists have clearly demonstrated that healing elements can be extracted from our environment and used to great beneficial effect, for example penicillin from fungi. Indeed, we have only scratched the surface of the full benefits that can be extracted from our environment.

Daylight is a vital ingredient for our existence and daylight can be broken down into various wavelengths. It is these specific wavelengths that have been found to have positive effects for our health.

In 2001, Dr Chu found that the wavelengths of 660nm and 415nm (fluorescent) have an anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial effect respectively. Further, together they act as a highly effective treatment for acne. Their study has been superseded by studies with LEDs. In a recent study by David J. Goldberg and Bruce A. Russell (2006), it was found that LEDs at 415nm and 633nm have an even better treatment outcome. LED wavelengths are more coherent and produce higher light intensities.

In 2007, S. Y Lee et al found that a combination of red LED light (633nm) and infrared (830nm) have an amazing anti-aging effect on the skin. Research is now developing in other areas, including oncology, hair restoration and psoriasis.

We at Mary Read Ltd are happy to be involved in light therapy research and the production of optimum and affordable treatments for the end user. We are excited and optimistic for the future of light therapies and for the benefits they will deliver to the individual.
